The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested controversial transgender, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for the abuse of the Nigerian currency, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation.
Bobrisky, known for his controversial personality, was apprehended in Lagos on Wednesday evening, April 3, and has since been detained at the EFCC’s Lagos Command.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrest and detention in a telephone conversation with PUNCH on Thursday.
“Bobrisky is with us. He was arrested last night in Lagos, and he is at our Lagos command. We arrested him for alleged abuse of naira notes, spraying of nara notes, and currency mutilation, among others,” Oyewale stated.
He further emphasized the EFCC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the Nigerian currency, emphasizing that Bobrisky would face charges in court.
Oyewale added, “We are very serious about restoring the dignity of the naira. Though our investigation is still ongoing, but he will definitely be charged to court soon.”
This comes a few days after Bobrisky sparked reactions online following his presence at Ikeja Mall cinema for a meet and greet event associated with the movie ‘Ajakaju’.
