The youths occupied the secretariat following a broadcast by Governor Fubara, who instructed Heads of Local Government Administration to assume control of the 23 LGAs in the state.
There has been ongoing tension between Governor Fubara and lawmakers loyal to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, due to disagreements with the FCT Minister.
After the governor’s broadcast on Tuesday morning, youths loyal to Fubara chased away all those opposed to his directive from the council premises.
One of the youths, who wished to remain anonymous, stated they were there to ensure the governor’s orders were followed.
He said: “All of them have disappeared, because we have come to take over. The governor is the power that we know. We have taken over Eleme. Total take over.
“The governor is the power we know, there is no other power. We have taken over Eleme. Eleme is taken. Their tenure has elapsed they should go home.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, had previously agreed to resolve the political turmoil in Rivers State.
