The controversy began on Father’s Day when media personality Gbemi tweeted that marriage and kids aren’t for everyone and people should be left alone if they choose that path.
The media personality mentioned having friends who don’t want romantic relationships but are still wonderful people.
Gbemi tweeted: “Leave people alone. Marriage and kids are not for everyone.
“I have dear friends who don’t want romantic relationships and they are wonderful people.
“A man or woman deciding not to marry or have children does not harm you in any way.”
In response to Gbemi’s post, an X user named Ben Awoks argued that choosing not to have children or get married is selfish.
He stated, “How can you be proud of not having children or getting married? Nothing rings. “I’m a selfish person” more than this“.
Ibrahim Suleiman supported Gbemi’s perspective, countering that not wanting children is not selfish. Instead, he suggested that the decision to have children could be considered selfish.
The actor wrote, “Oh, for crying out loud. There is nothing selfish about not wanting to have children. If anything, there is an argument for having children being a selfish decision.”
The actor went on to explain that he personally always wanted children and was eager to start a family once he found the right person.
However, he acknowledged that not everyone feels the same and that some people recognize they wouldn’t be the best parents.
He condemned pressuring such individuals into parenthood, stating, “Bullying people like that into procreation is wrong abeg.”
Suleiman said, “I just taya. I’ve always wanted to have children. So of course I was eager to procreate as soon as I found my person.
“But I know people who know that they will not be able to be the best version of themselves as parents. Bullying people like that into procreation is wrong abeg.”
Ibrahim Suleiman’s comments sparked a discussion on social media about personal choices regarding marriage and parenthood, highlighting diverse perspectives on the matter.
KanyiDaily recalls that Ibrahim Suleiman recently revealed why it’s not always a good idea to tease others about their flaws.
