Obama was among the last major Democrats to endorse Harris, who already received President Joe Biden’s support on Sunday to replace him on the ballot.
“Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Obama told Harris during a phone call with his wife.
“We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.
“At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.”
Barack Obama said that the call was made earlier in the week without giving a specific date.
Kamala Harris has already gained the backing of most Democratic delegates, positioning her to be the party’s nominee at the August convention.
LanyiDaily recalls that President Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race on Sunday, stating that his decision not to seek re-election is in the best interest of the Democratic Party and the country.
