In a recent podcast with media personality Fisayo Fosudo, Don Jazzy said it would be disastrous to compete with izkid and Asake who are hugely successful in Nigeria’s streaming era.
The music mogul moted that Mavin Records is shifting release dates to Wednesdays and Thursdays because Fridays are too crowded.
He said if Wizkid or Asake is releasing music on a Friday, they will move their release date to avoid being overshadowed.
He said: “We [Mavin] are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].
“If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
Mavin Records includes artists like Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy.
KanyiDaily recalls that Don Jazzy recently lamented that Nigerians do not support female musicians despite their hard work, compared to male artists.
