Tems, Tyla Bag 2024 BET Awards [Full List Of Winners]

Nigerian songstress Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, won her fourth BET Award at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Monday.

Tems beat top stars like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music to win the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her 2023 song, “Me & U.”

The BET Awards, started by Black Entertainment Television in 2001, honor the achievements of Black entertainers and other underrepresented groups in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.

The 2024 ceremony held on Monday morning, July 1, and hosted by actress, author, and producer Taraji P. Henson.

Megan Thee Stallion opened the show with a powerful performance of “BOA” and “Where Them Girls At.”

R&B icon Usher received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from industry legends Baby Face, L.A. Reid, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis.

A musical tribute featuring stars like Chlöe Bailey, Childish Gambino, KeKe Palmer, CoCo Jones, Tinashe, Latto, and more honored Usher, who also won “Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.”

Will Smith made a strong comeback with his new single, “You Can Make It,” featuring Gospel icon Kirk Franklin and the Sunday Service Choir.

Victoria Monet earned her first BET Award and wowed the audience with her performances.

South African singer Tyla won “Best New Artist” and “Best International Act.”

Killer Mike’s album “Michael” won “Album of the Year,” presented by nominee and performer Childish Gambino.

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2022, Tems won the award the BET awards for Best International Act and Best Collaboration for Wizkid’s ‘Essence’.

Tems also won the Best Collaboration award for her song with Drake and Future “Wait for U” in 2023. The song also received the same price at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2022.
