It was gathered that the victims were traveling to Enugu State and were passing through Otukpo Local Government area when they were ambushed.
Sewuese Anene, the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, said the students were traveling in two buses from the northern part of the country when they encountered the kidnappers on Thursday evening around 5:30 pm.
Anene confirmed the incident but could not specify which university the students were from. He noted that the police are investigating the case and have already started looking into it.
“Yes, it happened yesterday, Thursday evening around 5:30 pm. The Medical students were said to be travelling from Jos axis and were heading to Enugu in two buses, for a programme when they were kidnapped around the Otukpo area.
“Though I cannot tell which university they were from, they were medical students in transit. I am yet to receive full details of the incident but I can assure you that investigation into the matter has already commenced,” he said.
