Labour leaders began arriving at the NLC headquarters as early as 8 a.m. to back Joe Ajaero and the workforce.
Videos shared on the NLC’s official X handle showed labour leaders speaking to workers who stood firmly in support of Ajaero.
Ajaero subsequently visited the police headquarters in Abuja to respond to the invitation on Thursday, August 29.
Labour leaders held a peaceful march to the police station, where Ajaero will be questioned about accusations including terrorism financing, cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treason.
There is a strong police presence near the NLC headquarters to maintain order.
On Wednesday, NLC General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja said that the Congress had instructed all state chapters and affiliate members to gather in support of Ajaero.
The directive also asked members across various states to organize peaceful marches to their state police commands and remain there until the NLC president is released from police questioning.
The police had summoned Ajaero last week regarding allegations of terrorism financing, treason, and cybercrime.
KanyiDaily recalls that the NLC had accused the police of physically assaulting Joe Ajaero after he was arrested in Imo State.
