Nigerians Demand Justice For Idowu Christianah Allegedly Killed By Ayomide Adeleye

Nigerians on social media are demanding justice for Idowu Christianah, a student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who was allegedly killed by Ayomide Adeleye.

On Wednesday September 4, a Twitter user, @letter_to_jack, used the platform to demand accountability for Christianah, who was allegedly abducted and murdered by Adeleye.

The hashtag #JusticeForChristianah has become a major trend online with many Nigerians voicing their outrage in the matter.

It was gathered that Idowu Christianah went missing on August 19, 2024, after her abductors contacted her family through her WhatsApp account.

According to reports, the kidnappers sent photos of Christianah in captivity and demanded a ₦1.5 million ransom.

Christianah’s family managed to raise ₦350,000 and transferred it to a betting account as instructed by the kidnappers.

After receiving the money, the abductors asked for a copy of the bank statement. Christianah’s family provided this on August 23, but the kidnappers ceased communication.

Meanwhile, some of the ransom funds were transferred into Christianah’s GTB account and then moved to a Wema Bank account linked to Adeleye Ayomide, a 200-level student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).

Investigators began tracking the linked accounts on August 26, and by August 29, they verified that the BVN associated with the betting account belonged to Ayomide who withdrawn ₦100,000 before the account was frozen.

Authorities also discovered that Ayomide had a personal connection to Christianah through their Instagram interactions.

The military from the 174 Battalion was sent to arrest Ayomide after his mobile device was traced to his family home in Ikorodu.

Police found Christianah’s phone and bank records on his phone, along with incriminating emails between him and the family.

On September 3, 2024, Ayomide admitted to killing Christianah and burying her at his family’s home.

There are also reports that suggest he might have been involved in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his sister in 2020 under similar circumstances.

The case has caused widespread outrage in Nigeria, with many using the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah to voice their anger on social media.
