The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York confirmed that Diddy was arrested on Monday following a sealed indictment.
He now faces accusations of running a racketeering conspiracy, forcing or coercing women into sex trafficking, and organizing their transportation for prostitution.
The indictment claims that Sean Combs manipulated women into participating in organized sexual activities with male sex workers.
It also alleged that Diddy arranged for these women and sex workers to be flown to his location, controlling them through drugs, financial dependency, and threats of violence.
One key incident mentioned in the indictment refers to a 2016 hotel surveillance video, previously aired by CNN, which shows Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
The indictment further alleged that Combs attempted to bribe a hotel staff member involved in that situation to keep quiet.
Speaking outside the courthouse on Tuesday, Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, maintained his client’s innocence.
The lawyer said Combs intends to plead not guilty and will fight the charges with determination.
He added that Combs has always faced challenges head-on and expects a long legal battle ahead.
The rapper has been dealing with multiple allegations in recent months, including claims of sexual and physical abuse.
Earlier this year, federal agents raided Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation, but no charges were brought at that time.
KanyiDaily recalls that Diddy’s mansion in Los Angeles’ Holmby Hills, one of the properties raided by federal agents in March, was put up for sale this month with a $61.5 million asking price.
