On Monday, September 30, VeryDarkMan appeared before a House of Representatives panel investigating bribery accusations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Officials from both the EFCC and NCoS were also present as the investigation kicked off, following corruption claims made by the blogger.
VeryDarkMan initially refused to speak to the committee due to the absence of Bobrisky who had sent a lawyer in his place.
However, the lawmakers insisted that VeryDarkMan should address the panel about the audio recording he had released, despite his reluctance.
The social commentator held firm, requesting his lawyer to speak on his behalf. But after some pressure, he eventually complied and addressed the committee.
He explained that the audio was genuine and that it came from someone Bobrisky owed money to.
VeryDarkMan also provided part of the recording to the panel for review.
In a viral video, he alleged that Bobrisky had paid ₦15 million to the EFCC to have money laundering charges dropped after his incident involving naira spraying in April, which had led to a six-month prison sentence.
The social commentator also claimed Bobrisky paid extra money to secure special privileges in prison.
Bobrisky has since denied these accusations, while both the EFCC and NCoS have launched investigations into the matter.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to conduct an independent probe into the blogger’s claims.
KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky recently revealed he is struggling with suicidal thoughts after bribery allegations were made against him by VeryDarkMan.
