On Tuesday, Iran fired around 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, claiming it was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Khamenei defended the action, calling it “legal and legitimate” during a Friday speech in Tehran, where he also praised Hezbollah and Nasrallah, who was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike.
“The brilliant action of our armed forces a couple of nights ago was completely legal and legitimate,” Khamenei said.
During his sermon, part of which was delivered in Arabic to reach Lebanese and Palestinian listeners, Khamenei voiced support for Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel, which he called “legitimate.”
The Iran leader asserted that the Palestinian people have the right to defend themselves against an enemy occupying their land.
Amid ongoing regional tensions, Israel has escalated its military actions on several fronts, conducting a ground incursion against Hezbollah in Lebanon, and carrying out airstrikes in Gaza and Beirut, as well as threatening retaliation for Iran’s missile attack earlier in the week.
KanyiDaily recalls that Israel’s military recently announced that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah group, was killed in an airstrike in Beirut.
