Lookman, Troost-Ekong, Others Nominated For 2024 CAF Player Of The Year [Full List]

Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong are in the running for the prestigious 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Men’s Player of the Year award.

These two Nigerian stars will face strong competition from Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Côte d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, as they all vie for the continent’s top individual honor for male footballers.

Lookman played a key role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League victory last season, sealing his reputation with a hat-trick in the final match against Bayer Leverkusen. The 27-year-old winger also contributed significantly to Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign, scoring three goals across seven appearances.

Troost-Ekong, meanwhile, earned the title of best player at the 2023 AFCON after leading Nigeria to a second-place finish and scoring three goals of his own.

The CAF Awards ceremony will be held on December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
