Mohbad’s Widow, Wunmi Finally Agrees To DNA Test For Son, Liam

Omowunmi, the widow of late singer and rapper Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test to establish the paternity of their only son, Liam.

KanyiDaily recalls that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, had filed a lawsuit requesting a DNA test for his grandson.

The legal team representing Joseph sought permission to serve Wunmi by posting court documents to her last known address, as previous attempts to reach her had failed.

On July 9, 2024, the Magistrates Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, urged both parties to pursue alternative dispute resolution, which ultimately did not result in an agreement.

In a statement shared with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, a member of the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, confirmed that Wunmi had agreed to the DNA test.

This followed the drafting of settlement terms by both parties.

Odumosu explained that Emmanuel Oroko, representing Joseph, informed the court that both sides had reached a settlement outside of court and were ready to submit the terms, which were accepted as the court’s judgment.

Wunmi has agreed to have the DNA test conducted at an accredited medical facility in Lagos or another mutually acceptable hospital.

The lawyer also revealed that Joseph has agreed to cover the costs of the testing and any related fees.

In the terms filed before the court, the respondent, Wunmi Aloba, consented to submit herself and her son, (Master Liam Aloba), for the conduct of a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) at Two (2) recognised and accredited government or private medical facilities within Lagos State or other agreeable hospital outside Lagos State.

“In turn, the applicant, Mr. Joseph Aloba, agreed to bear the cost of the DNA test processes, including the fees for the testing facility, the collection of samples, and any associated legal or administrative fees.

“The court further ordered that the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test be conducted at a mutually agreed-upon laboratory or medical centre within Nigeria. To ensure and ascertain the reliability of the test, the court further appointed some officers to supervise the process of the DNA test,” Odumosu stated.

The court also mandated that the DNA test be carried out at a mutually chosen laboratory in Nigeria, with appointed officials supervising the process to ensure its reliability.

Both parties were instructed to cover their own legal costs, except for the expenses related to the DNA testing, which Joseph agreed to handle.

KanyiDaily recalls that Mohbad died in 2023 at the age of 27, with the circumstances surrounding his death leading to significant controversy on social media.
