Pastor Adeboye Apologises For Saying Those Who Don’t Pay Tithe Won’t Make Heaven [Video]

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has apologized for previously stating that those who don’t pay tithes won’t make it to heaven.

During a televised message to his congregation, which has since gone viral and sparked a lot of discussion on social media, Pastor Adebiye admitted his mistake.

He said,  “I want to be apologising for making a mistake, for saying that if you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven. Sorry, that’s wrong,” which drew a strong reaction from the audience.

That’s not in the bible. What the bible says is ‘be at peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God,” the cleric clarified.

Pastor Adebiye added that “it’s possible to be right and wrong at the same time.”

He went on to reflect on how beliefs can evolve over time, giving the example of how people once thought light traveled in a straight line, only to learn it moves in waves.

The cleric explained: “For years, we thought that light travels in straight line. Now, is that correct?… But later on we discovered it’s not straight as a rod, light travels in waves.”

Though he acknowledged his error about tithing and heaven, he encouraged members to give beyond the basic ten percent.

“It is wrong to limit you to ten percent. Ten percent should be for beginners,” he added, saying some people should be paying “20 percent, 30 percent.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Nollywood actor Emeka Amakaeze had also criticized Pastor Enoch Adeboye for praying that Christians from other churches would bow to his congregants.
