Toke Makinwa Speaks On Her Alleged Secret Marriage With Farouk Umar

Nigerian media personality, Toke Makinwa has responded to rumors circulating about her allegedly marrying her partner, Farouk Umar, during her birthday thanksgiving event.

The buzz started on Sunday, October 20, 2024, when photos and videos from her celebration began making waves online.

In the images, Toke Makinwa and Farouk Umar were both dressed in white, and a video showing Farouk kissing her neck fueled speculation that they had secretly tied the knot.

Some even suggested she got engaged at the event, leaving many unsure of what the gathering was really about.

As the rumors spread, Toke’s comment section was flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and well-wishers.

However, during her afterparty, Toke Makinwa addressed the rumors, playfully clarifying her relationship with Farouk.

She said “On Obasanjo’s internet, they said I got married to this guy. This guy is my best friend o, listen, on Toke Makinwa’s internet, they said I married Farouk. Farouk my friend, ore mi.. this is my nigga and my friend, my brother, who wan marry you. Farouk held me down when there was nobody.

On October 21, 2024, Toke Makinwa took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air, denying any secret marriage with Farouk and thanking everyone for their support and kind words.

She reassured her followers that she wouldn’t have a secret wedding, expressing appreciation for their desire to see her settle down.

The media personality emphasized that the celebration was purely a thanksgiving event for her 40th birthday.

“I did not get married yesterday, I deeply appreciate all your love and prayers, I see how you all desire for me to settle down and God who is the author of time will do it when he thinks it is right. Yesterday was to honor God.

“I owe you all my friends and family too much to have a secret wedding, you all have been through everything with me so know this from me, it was a thanksgiving day and nothing more. Xx

“Una don make my parents receive plenty calls but I know it’s all love, all their friends have called tayaaaaaa, I am very much still singuuuuuuuuuu.

“I get small Werey but God dey manage me like that,” Toke Makinwa.
