Miss Universe Contestant, Italy Mora Disqualified For Visiting Boyfriend’s Hotel Room

Miss Universe contestant, Italy Mora has been disqualified from the pageant after making an unapproved visit to her boyfriend’s hotel room.

The 19-year-old was set to represent Panama in the competition, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, in Mexico City, where 130 contestants from around the world will compete.

However, Italy Mora’s journey was cut short as Miss Universe organizers announced her withdrawal, according to local media.

The organization stated that Mora was put through a “exhaustive evaluation by our disciplinary commission” for a “personal error,” without detailing the specific reason for her disqualification.

However, reports suggest that Mora allegedly visited her boyfriend, Juan Abadía, at his hotel without official permission.

Mora later addressed the situation, claiming her exit was actually due to a heated disagreement with Miss Universe Panama Director, César Anel Rodríguez over poor organization.

According to her, Abadía was in Mexico to assist with essential needs—like food, hotel costs, and even a $7,000 Carolina Herrera dress—that she felt the organization failed to provide.

This disagreement ultimately led to her expulsion.

Italy Mora expressed frustration over rumors affecting her reputation, adding that the experience has been emotionally challenging.

There’s a lot of speculation that needs to be cleared up because it’s impacting my reputation, and emotionally, it’s been difficult. If I weren’t with my boyfriend, I’d be struggling even more,” she said.

The beauty queen attempted to appeal the decision, but pageant officials upheld their ruling.

Ultimately, Mora said she agreed to “take responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences.”

In a statement, Miss Universe emphasized that the decision was made with “respect for all parties involved” and highlighted their commitment to fairness and transparency.

“It is important to note that we made this decision with the utmost respect for all parties involved,” they wrote. “

Our No. 1 priority remains the welfare and transparency for all of our candidates, who exemplify diversity, talent and dedication.”

Despite Italy Mora’s removal, no replacement contestant from Panama will be sent to the competition.

KanyiDaily recalls that Nigerian beauty queen, Chidimma Adetshina was also in the spotlight as a South African group petitioned Miss Universe organizers to block her from competing.
