“Somebody Hacked Into My NGO Website And Stole N180 Million” – VeryDarkMan [Video]

Controversial Nigerian activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has alleged that over N180 million was stolen from his NGO’s website after hackers gained access.

In October, VeryDarkMan launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, quickly raising over N35 million in donations within hours. Shortly after, music producer Don Jazzy contributed an additional N100 million.

On Friday, December 27, VeryDarkMan shared a video on Instagram revealing that N180 million had been stolen and transferred to an unknown account.

The activist disclosed that he is traveling to Jos with a police officer, Officer Joe, to address the issue and expressed hope for a resolution.

He also confirmed that one of the hackers had been arrested and that N20 million of the stolen funds had already been recovered.

To prevent further breaches, VeryDarkMan said he has temporarily shut down the NGO’s app for maintenance and assured his followers that updates would be provided.

He said, “For the past few days, I have not been myself. I am here with Officer Joe and we are going to Jos. The NGO money, somebody hacked into the NGO website and I don’t know how they did it and N180 million is missing.

“Thank God we have tracked the person and we are on our way to Jos. They have arrested one, that is why I am even saying it now, I am excited and an account has been put on PND, so the account now has N20 million, N160 million has been diverted to another account.

“We are currently going there to see how I will get the money back. I just want to update you people, I even had to shut down the app and put it on maintenance so that people won’t really see what is going on but let me just come out plain and tell everybody that this is what is going on but hopefully, we would get the money back.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Don Jazzy made an earlier contribution of N100 million in October to VeryDarkMan’s non-governmental organization (NGO).
