Court Declares Naira Marley, Sammy Larry, Prime Boy Not Linked To Mohbad’s Death

A Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, has cleared rapper Naira Marley, music promoter Sam Larry, and Primeboy of any involvement in the death of late singer Mohbad.

On Tuesday, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje ruled that the trio had no case to answer, following legal advice from the Lagos Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The court also freed Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.

However, the DPP stated that the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and one of his friends, Ayobami Sadiq, will be prosecuted for Reckless and Negligent Acts under Lagos State’s criminal laws.

While reports confirmed that Naira Marley and Sam Larry had assaulted Mohbad in the past, the DPP clarified that this did not directly link them to his death.

The findings revealed that in September 2023, Mohbad attended a concert in Ikorodu alongside friends and associates, including Primeboy and his wife, Wunmi.

When leaving, Primeboy warned him about touts demanding money, which led to an argument.

In the heat of the moment, Mohbad punched Primeboy but accidentally hit a car window, injuring his arm.

The wound worsened due to poor treatment from an unqualified nurse, which ultimately led to complications resulting in his death.

The 6-page document which informed the court’s decision.was signed by the DPP, Dr Babajide Martins, on behalf of the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN).

KanyiDaily recalls that Mohbad recently dismissed allegations that she had a physical fight with her husband before his death.
