On Saturday, February 8, Emrich’s brother, guitarist Ifiok Effanga, known professionally as Fiokee, publicly mourned her loss, revealing that she was a victim of domestic violence.
Fiokee expressed deep grief on Instagram, admitting he had no idea about the abuse his sister suffered since she never spoke about it.
He urged people in toxic relationships to seek help, acknowledging the fear that keeps many silent but warning that staying quiet could be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s cousin, Purim Mercy, also paid tribute to Emrich Effanga on Facebook, disclosing that the alleged perpetrator served as an usher in a church.
She wrote, “Emrich Effanga, you are no more again. And there was no idea anywhere that you were in an abusive relationship with a guy who claimed to be your lover. And now, he has succeeded in killing you by strangling you to death. An usher in your church for that matter. So sad. My baby Cousin. May your soul. Rest In Peace. Good Bye.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Tuokpe Onuwaje, the ex-wife of self-proclaimed Nigerian preacher Reno Omokri, also accused him of domestic violence during their failed marriage.
