Nigerian singer Ayra Starr, has sparked online criticism after a video surfaced showing her singing and dancing to Naira Marley’s latest song, Pxy Drip.

The controversy stems from the lingering accusations against Naira Marley, the head of Marlian Records, who has been linked to the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

Many Nigerians have since distanced themselves from him and his associates, including Zinoleesky and Sam Larry.

Despite this, Naira Marley made a strong comeback in December 2024 with his song “Pxy Drip”, which has gained widespread popularity on streaming platforms and social media.

Addressing critics who claimed his music career was over, Naira Marley recently boasted that his song is trending, with many people, including celebrities, vibing to it.

A new video of Ayra Starr enjoying the track has now gone viral.

In the clip, the singer can be heard repeatedly saying “Marlians” while dancing and singing along to the song.

She also took the opportunity to promote her upcoming single, “All the Love”, set for release on February 11, 2025.

However, her actions did not go down well with some Nigerians, who expressed disappointment and even called for her to be “cancelled.”

Although she later deleted the video, the backlash continued, with some netizens insisting that supporting Naira Marley was insensitive given the unresolved allegations surrounding Mohbad’s death.

While some criticized Ayra Starr, others defended her, arguing that music should be separate from personal controversies.
