Sean Kingston, 35, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, has been placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring.
Meanwhile, his mother was taken into custody.
According to NBC6 South Florida, Kingston is required to post a surety bond that includes a home valued at $500,000 and $200,000 in cash. Their sentencing is set for July 11.
The trial, which started on March 24, concluded on March 28 with final arguments. After three and a half hours of deliberation, the jury delivered its verdict.
Prosecutors accused Kingston and his mother of defrauding several businesses, including jewelry stores, a television installation service, and a luxury car dealership.
Authorities estimate that they obtained more than $1 million worth of goods through fraudulent means.
The judge deemed Janice Turner a flight risk, partly due to her testimony during the trial, as reported by Local10.
In video footage from the courthouse, Kingston can be heard pleading with U.S. Marshals to “protect my mother” as he was led away.
During the proceedings, Fort Lauderdale jeweler Moshe Edery testified that Kingston’s failure to complete a $285,000 payment damaged his reputation.
“I’m being scammed,” Edery told the court.
Sean Kingston and his mother were arrested in May 2024, with their first court appearance held in July.
They each faced charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and five counts of wire fraud.
According to the indictment, Turner played a key role by arranging deliveries and wire transfers, only to send fraudulent payments instead. The scheme allegedly lasted for several years.
Kingston’s defense team argued that there was no clear evidence proving he or his mother intended to commit fraud.
They also claimed that some of the businesses involved had been reimbursed for their losses.
Born in Miami and raised in Jamaica, Kingston gained worldwide recognition with *Beautiful Girls* in 2007.
He continued his music career throughout the 2010s, collaborating with Justin Bieber and making a guest appearance on Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life on Deck.”
