Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Egor constituency, was removed along with two other lawmakers—Charity Aiguobarueghian, the former Majority Leader, and Yekini Idaiye, who served as Chief Whip.
Their removal comes after a political shakeup in the House on Monday.
Four PDP lawmakers recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), shifting the majority in favor of the APC. This led to a reorganization of key leadership roles.
Despite the changes, two PDP members—Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Hon. Maria Edeko—retained their positions as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House.
According to Daily Trust, the new appointments followed a letter from the APC’s acting state chairman, Jarret Tenebe, notifying the Assembly of the party’s new majority status.
Speaker Agbebaku announced that the new leadership positions have been filled by APC lawmakers: Hon. Ibhamawu Jonathan Aigbokhan (Esan West) as Majority Leader, Hon. Addeh Emakhu Isibor (Esan North-East I) as Deputy Leader, and Hon. Lecky Hussein Mustapha (Etsako West I) as Chief Whip.
Agbebaku also mentioned that the PDP is expected to submit a fresh list of nominees for other leadership roles.
He added that his position as speaker and that of the deputy speaker may be reviewed.
Meanwhile, Natasha Osawaru’s name has stayed in the headlines for personal reasons too.
After 2Face Idibia confirmed their relationship earlier this year—just days after announcing his split from Annie Idibia—the lawmaker has been under public scrutiny.
In February, 2Baba even proposed to her, claiming his new relationship had nothing to do with the breakup.
Adding fuel to the conversation, Natasha Osawaru updated her Instagram bio to include the singer’s last name, just around the same time Annie removed it from hers and returned to her maiden name.
