The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that his party is ready to ‘meet violence with violence’ during the September 19 governorship election.
Oshiomhole was reacting to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s alleged threat to deal with APC members and supporters in the guise of dealing with trouble makers.
On Sunday, Governor Obaseki had issued a strong warning to any ‘trouble makers’ looking to foment violence in the upcoming elections, vowing to visit any perpetrators of violence with the long arms of the law.
Reacting during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Oshiomhole averred: ‘’We will meet violence with violence.”
The former APC chairman said his party would not fold its arms and watch Obaseki and the PDP violently steal the peoples’ mandate.
“If they want violence, we will give them violence,” Oshiomhole said.
Oshiomhole further explained that, among other things, he turned against his successor because the governor has not met the expectations of Edo people and regretted that he worked with Obaseki in 2016 without asking for his certificate.
Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki has accused APC of importing Police from Abuja to intimidate and harass his supporters ahead of the September 19 governorship election.
