The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the 2021 Anambra State governorship election will determine the emergence of a president of Igbo extraction in 2023.
Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, said this during a grand reception for the state PDP chairman, Ndubuisi Nwobu, in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Saturday.
According to him, 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra will determine the future of the state and the fate of Ndi-Igbo in national politics.
“All hands must be on deck as next year’s gubernatorial election in Anambra state will determine the future of the state and the fate of Ndigbo in the Nigerian political structure.”
In his address at the event, Nwobu promised that the party under his leadership was prepared to do the needful to ensure victory come 2022.
The Anambra PDP Chairman also assured all governorship aspirants of a level playing field when it was time to choose a candidate.
Dignitaries who attended the event include Austin Umahi, Senator Ben Obi, Chief Josephine Anenih, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, Chris Azubuogu, Dr Godwin Maduka, Valentine Ozigbo, amongst others.
This is coming after Ohanaeze Ndigbo accused PDP of scheming to go against the zoning formula in its constitution that favours Southeast to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s Successor in 2023.
