The Nigerian Police Force headquarters in Abuja has arrested a 20-year old man, Abubakar Amodu, for allegedly kidnaping his father alongside with his gang members and collected N2 million as ransom.
Amodu was one of 25 suspects paraded by the Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, for various offences in Abuja on Wednesday.
The suspect, who was arrested with other members of the gang, told journalists that he worked with his father who was a herdsman, adding that he gave him 15 cows to start off his own cattle rearing business.
The 20-year-old said he got the idea to kidnap his father after he became friends with some group of kidnappers who told him that his father was rich, and should be kidnapped for money, which he obliged.
Amodu said that after arranging with the gang to carry out the abduction, he got N200, 000 as his own share of the N2million paid as ransoms to free his father.
Frank Mba, who said the suspects would be taken to court as soon as investigations is concluded, vowed that the police will not relent in its bid to rid the society of criminals.
