Malami Fooled Me To Get Access To Justice Mary Odili’s Residence – Chief Magistrate

Chief Magistrate of Wuse Zone 6 Magistrate Court in Abuja, Emmanuel Iyanna has accused the Federal Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, of deceiving him into signing a search warrant for the residence of a Justice of the Supreme Court, Mary Odili.

KanyiDaily had reported how security operatives, who were made up of the Nigerian Army and officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), invaded the home of Justice Mary Odili in Abuja.

The security operatives, who identified themselves as members of a joint task force, came with a search warrant on Friday evening, saying that they received information on “illegal activities” going on in Mary Odili’s house.

It was gathered that the security operatives did not discover anything of interest in relation to the alleged illegal activities, and left after about an hour.

Anxiety and confusion trailed the fate and whereabouts of Justice Odili following the alleged invasion of her family residence by the security operatives.

Court Revokes Search Warrant, Says It Was Misled

In a fresh order issued on Saturday, October 30, the chief magistrate revoked the search warrant on the grounds that the court was misled by the ministry of justice.

“Upon misrepresentation to this honourable court that led to the issuance of a search warrant in favour of Joint Panel Recovery, Ministry of Justice, against House 9, Imo Street, Maitama, Abuja, dated October 29, 2021,”

“In view of the above fact, the said search warrant is hereby revoked,” the judge said in the document.

The supreme court justice is the wife of Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers state, who is currently on the watchlist of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
