An Islamic cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru Kabara, who was charged with blasphemy, was on Thursday, sentenced to death by hanging by a Kano Upper Shari’a Court sitting at Kofar Kudu, Kano State.

Kabara was sentenced by Justice Ibrahim Yola, in a judgement that lasted over two hours.
The court also banned radio and television stations from broadcasting works produced by the cleric.
Similarly, the judge ordered the state government to confiscate the two mosques belonging to Abduljabbar.
The judgement was coming 15 months after the trial of the cleric before the Upper Shari’a Court sitting at Kofar Kudu, presided over by Justice Yola.
Kabara was tried and sentenced to death on the issue bordering on blasphemous statements against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), an act described as capable of inciting public peace.
He was charged in July 2021 by the Kano state government.
