A man, Eremezie Martin, and his fiancee, Mba Gloria, has been shot dead by gunmen just one week to their wedding at Arondizuogu, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo state.

It was gathered that the intending couple, whose wedding was slated for January 18, 2023, was killed along with the groom’s brother on Wednesday, January 11.

A source said the couple were taking a ride in the groom’s brother’s tricycle when they were attacked by the gunmen who killed all three of them.

“A young man who was coming home for his marriage was killed in his village yesterday night (Tuesday) with his fiancée and the brother who was conveying them in his Keke (tricycle). This happened at Ndiejezie Izuogu in Ideato LGA of Imo State,” the source said.

The killing sparked outrage as members of the community came out en mass on Wednesday to lay curses on the assailants who perpetrated the crime.

The residents also claim that the assailants have invaded their community and specialize in stealing flashy cars and killing their owners.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident when contacted by Punch.
