A crude oil tapping point explosion has left dozens of people dead in the Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Reports say some of those killed in the explosion included women.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 2am on Friday when one of the buses loaded with crude went up in flames while trying to navigate to an illegal refining point in the area.
The incident was confirmed by An environmentalist and executive director Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre, Fyneface Dumnamene, saying it received news of the incident through its ‘Crude oil spill alert response system.
The Rivers state police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko also confirmed the incident, saying, “The Divisional Police Officer in is already on his was to the scene.”
