FG Doesn’t Have $1.8bn For 2023 Census And Shifted ‘Wahala’ To Tinubu – Shehu Sani
Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing census by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
This decision was reached after a meeting with members of the Federal Executive Council and the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Nasir Isa-Kwarra, and his team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.
The president emphasised the critical need for the conduct of a Population and Housing Census in Nigeria, 17 years after the last census, to collect up-to-date data that will drive the developmental goals of the country and improve the living standard of the Nigerian people.
The government did not, however, give a reason for the postponement.
Taking to his official handle, Sani in a tweet, argued that the federal government does not have $1.8 billion for the Census.
According to him, as a result, the government has now shifted the “wahala” to President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Shehu Sani wrote, “The simple fact is that the FG doesn’t have $1.8 Billion for the Census and now shifted the Wahala to Asiwaju.”
