Daura Emirate is holding a traditional durbar celebration in honour of the immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.
The ceremony holding today, May 30, is organized by the Daura Emirate Council under the leadership of Emir Farouk Umar, to pay tribute to the former president’s service to the nation.
Buhari, who handed over to his successor, President Bola Tinubu on Monday, and left Abuja for Katsina shortly afterward, received a rousing welcome from the people of his hometown in Daura.
In a video circulating on social media, a massive crowd could be seen at the Durbar celebration which would be attended by many prominent people including members of the outgone Federal Executive Council.
Bashir Ahmad, the special assistant on Digital Communications to Buhari, shared the video of the event via his Twitter handle at @BashirAhmaad, on Tuesday.
He wrote, “How to welcome your son after eight years serving the country as its Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. A Durbar celebration is currently holding in Daura in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, after concluding his two-term tenure.”
