Tinubu on Friday night suspended Emefiele, from office with immediate effect.

This is a sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy, according to a statement on Friday by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey.

According to the statement, Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi who will act as the CBN governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.

Reacting to the development, Shehu Sani in his usual fashion of commenting on public issues, took to his official Twitter handle on Saturday to hail the decision of the president.

While commending the decision of Tinubu and the appointment of Shonubi, Sani proposed that “Housecleaning of the CBN” can only be done by engaging a team of auditors from OUTSIDE of the apex bank.

According to him, only auditors outside the CBN can professionally and thoroughly probe the apex bank and tell the country how the bank was run under Buhari’s Emefiele.

He claimed that “The CBN was operated as an ATM of the Cabal, a Canteen and Cash Cow of the parasitic elites of the past administration.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has also commended Tinubu for suspending Emefiele as the Governor of the CBN.
