The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor has argued that securing a country like Nigeria is not an easy task.
He, however, insists it is not an impossible one to achieve.
Irabor stated this on Friday during his valedictory speech during the pulling-out ceremony organised for him at the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja.
According to Irabor, the debts the country owes to men and women who serve in the armed forces cannot be paid fully.
While expressing satisfaction with his service in the military, General Irabor said he is leaving the armed forces today bigger and stronger than he met it.
The former defence chief also appealed to citizens not to engage in acts that can undermine the Nigerian military, saying that the military stands as a beacon of hope, unity, and stability that must be protected.
He expressed optimism in the ability of his successor to beat the records set so far in the armed forces.
In attendance at the event are senior military officers, former Chiefs of Defense Staff, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and the governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Immediate past Past President, Muhammadu Buhari appointed Irabor as Chief of Defence Staff in 2021.
He replaced General Gabriel Abayomi Olonisakin.
Recall that Irabor’s tenure as defence chief and those of other service chiefs came to an end on June 12, 2023, when President Bola Tinubu retired them and replaced them with new ones.
The President replaced Gen. Irabor with Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, who is now the Acting Chief of Defence Staff pending confirmation by the National Assembly.
In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that the Senior Pastor of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, is currently on admission to a hospital after he collapsed at an airport on Thursday morning, June 29.
He confirmed this development on his Facebook page where he appealed to everyone to pray for him.
