Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi has once again addressed the ‘sex-for-role’ allegation made against him by his colleague, Bimpe Oyebade fondly known as Mo Bimpe.
KanyiDaily recalls that after Yomi Fabiyi was accused of “sex-for-roles”, Mo Bimpe revealed that she ended her relationship with the filmmaker because “he insisted on either dating me or being enemies and I had to choose.”
During a recent interview, Yom Fabiyi expressed his frustration that he has been unjustly judged regarding his relationship with Mo Bimpe, whom he claimed to have mentored.
According to him, their initial interaction took place in 2016 during the preparations for one of his films. At the time, Bimpe, a youth corps member, expressed her interest in acting, and he offered her a role.
Fabiyi narrated the series of events that unfolded between them, including how he trained her for the role she played, ensuring that her lack of experience did not discourage other top Nollywood artists who were involved in the movie.
Throughout his statement, Yomi Fabiyi reiterated that there was no sexual relationship between him and Mo Bimpe, emphasizing that his involvement was solely focused on mentoring her in the Nollywood profession.
The actor further explained that after the project concluded on the movie set, Mo Bimpe bid farewell and departed with a different actor, not him who had introduced her to the industry.
Fabiyi emphasized that he did not encounter Mo Bimpe again until 2019 when she approached him for her own movie. However, he discovered that she had assembled his entire crew behind his back for the film, which he considered a betrayal.
The filmmaker further asserted that Mo Bimpe had used him to gain fame and had attempted to tarnish his reputation in the process. He firmly denied ever demanding sexual favors in exchange for movie roles.
