May Edochie Denies Yul Edochie Access To Their Home, Demands N100m From Him And Judy Austin
May Edochie, the first wife of Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has filed for divorce and denied him access to their matrimonial home.
May Edochie, who is represented by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana and Eculaw group, is also seeking N100 million in damages from Yul and his second wife, Judy Austin, on grounds of adultery.
The DPA Family Law Clinic, which provided an update on the couple’s marital crisis, clarified that “Yul Edochie and Judy are not husband and wife, and cannot be so until the actor and May are divorced.”
It was also revealed in detail why May considers Yul’s marriage to Judy null because her husband married her under the 1970 marriage act and isn’t allowed to have more than one wife at a time, unlike the customary marriage act.
The agency also revealed that Yul and Judy are aware of the lawsuit, having received copies of the suit papers via email. However, they have allegedly been avoiding the court’s process, evading attempts to serve them.
It was gathered that May Edochie also filed for a court order to prevent Yul from accessing their former matrimonial home. She cited safety concerns, stating that the actor’s behavior has become erratic, irrational, aggressive, and increasingly threatening.
The mother of three expressed her worry about Yul’s state of mind, suggesting that he might be “under some influence, the full extent or scope of which we are yet to ascertain”.
She recalled a recent incident when security officials prevented Yul from entering their home, informing him that all matters relating to his marriage and dealings are subjudice.
May, who recently lost her first son, Kambilichukwu, with the actor, emphasized that she has taken this measure to protect herself and her three children.
KanyiDaily recalls that Yul Edochie reportedly rejected the divorce papers filled by his first wife, May Edochie, to end their 18-year-old marriage.
