The Presidential Petition Election Tribunal has reached a decision regarding the petition questioning the eligibility of Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

"Qualification And Disqualification Of Shettima Is Pre-Election Matter" – Tribunal Rules

Justice Haruna Tsammani, leading a panel of five judges, delivered the ruling on Wednesday, deeming the petition brought by the Allied Peoples Movement as a pre-election issue.

In his verdict, Tsammani emphasized that the matter of qualification or disqualification is a constitutional issue, which should have been addressed prior to the presidential election.

He said, “The issue of qualification or disqualification is a constitutional one. The issue of disqualification or qualification is a pre-election matter.

“It must be determined before the conduct of the election. This court has no jurisdiction to hear the matter and even if it does it is status-barred because it is a pre-election matter.”

KanyiDaily had also reported that the Justices of the Election Presidential Tribunal would also deliver judgment today on three petitions that are seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
