The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has assured the families of departed soldiers, who lost their lives while serving the country that their entitlements will be paid without any delay.
Lagbaja made the assurance Today 12th September 2023, while declaring open the Chief of Army Staff combined second and third quarters conference at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Asokoro Abuja.
The conference is designed to provide a veritable platform to review the Nigerian Army’s administrative, training, logistics, operational activities and other key issues relating to the service within a quarter.
He stressed further that the conference will offer participants an opportunity to review decisions taken during the COAS First Quarter Conference 2023, conducted under the past leadership. “It is worth noting that since the majority of us were part of the previous administration and held critical appointments, we were undoubtedly part of it’s decision-making hierarchy, we are thus eminently qualified to effectively assess the level of implementation of decisions taken during the First Quarter Conference 2023,” he said.
The Army Chief noted some Nigerian Army operational activities such as Operation HADIN KAI in the North EAST which have effectively curtailed Boko Haram and other terrorist activities in the region, also Operation HADARIN DAJI and Operation WHIRL PUNCH which have also checkmated banditary and insurgency in the North West and North Central regions as well as Operation UDO KA which as curtained criminals perpetrating in the South East region, which has make Law-abiding citizens of the region to now go about their businesses.
General Lagbaja charged all field commanders to ensure the maintenance of procured equipment in other to prolong their life span and enable the nation to optimize it’s investment, as he expressed gratitude to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance and the confidence reposed on the leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, as he reiterates the unalloyed loyalty and commitment of the Nigerian Army to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Highlights of the event were the presentation of Toyota Hilux Vehicles to 8 Army Warrant Officer (AWO) for attaining the height of their sogion career, and group photographs.
In other news, President Bola Tinubu has ordered maritime safety authorities to investigate the recurring boat accidents in the country.
