Comedian Sunday David Uwakwe, popularly known as Mc Dave David Uwakwe aka Gbagamgbam was kidnapped on the 11th of September 2023 by some unknown gunmen around Rumuola Port Harcourt.
According to insiders, the comedian was returning from a sold-out performance near the University of Port Harcourt around 2 a.m.
Somewhere around Rumukalagbo, assailants wearing what looked like police uniforms and face masks, double-crossed his car and stopped him.
They called him out by his stage name, “Gbagamgbam.”
They ordered him to step out of his vehicle and ushered him into another stationed car that had dark-tinted windows.
Within hours of the abduction, the kidnappers made contact with his friends and families and demanded the sum of N25 million for his release.
In an official press statement, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed this unsettling development. “We are aware of the incident concerning Mr. David Uwakwe, known as MC Dave, and we have launched a full-scale investigation into this serious matter,” said Iringe-Koko. She urged the public to provide any information that could assist the police in resolving this case as quickly as possible.
