Nigerian comedian, Okey Bakassi has shared his experience of being tempted by fraudsters and drug dealers when he first arrived in Lagos as a young man.
During an interview on Channels TV, Okey Bakassi revealed that he was approached both in Nigeria and overseas to get involved in drug-related activities.
The comedian, however, emphasized that he chose to avoid such temptations, stressing the danger associated with illegal activities.
He mentioned that individuals would approach entertainers, encouraging them to engage in drug-related businesses by highlighting the financial gains.
Despite the potential monetary benefits, Okey Bakassi stressed the importance of maintaining a clean conscience and peace of mind.
He expressed a desire to avoid illegal activities and, consequently, any issues with law enforcement agencies, preferring a simple and lawful lifestyle.
“When I came to Lagos as a young man, I was tempted in so many different ways by different people. And I’m talking about fraudsters and drug dealers,” Bekassi said.
“I was approached. When you’re in entertainment, you are approached to peddle drugs. I have been approached overseas, I have been approached in Nigeria by drug dealers.
“They show up in your hotel and that talk business and they tell you other people who are doing it are making money. But it is dangerous.
“For me, I want to be able to sleep well. I am not afraid of the police or any law enforcement agencies. So I have tried from day one to keep things simple.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Okey Bakassi and his wife Ezinne recently took to social media to celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary.
