Felix Otabor, the father of Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ winner, Phyna, has admitted that his daughter gifted him an SUV after she won the reality TV show.
During an interview with Vanguard, Felix Otabor revealed that he has not seen Phyna or received responses to their calls since she won the N100 million grand prize for the 2022 BBNaija ‘Level Up’ edition.
Otabor, a seasoned hearse driver, recalled how Phyna urged him to sell his old cars after winning the reality TV show, promising to by him a new one.
Unfortunately, when he sold his cars as scrap and used the proceeds for home renovations, Phyna reportedly abandoned her family, and stopped calling and returning their calls after she left the BBNaija house.
In her reaction, Phyna threatened legal action against Vanguard, and expressed disappointment with her family for granting interviews against her because she refused to grant them one offer.
Amidst the family drama, netizens dug up a video from 2022, showing Phyna presenting her parents with a shiny new Lexus jeep.
In a subsequent report, Vanguard disclosed that Phyna’s father reached out to them during the week, revealing that his daughter had refused to contact them despite the report on the media.
Otabor also admitted to receiving a car gift from Phyna but lamented that he had expected more from her, but his daughter wasn’t ready to oblige him.
The report read in part, “During the week, her father, Mr Felix Otabor called our reporter again on the telephone to say that Phyna hadn’t reached out to him or any member of the family.
“He said he thought that granting the first interview to Vanguard would compel her friends to advise her to return to her family. But it has worsened the situation, as his telephone has been buzzing since last weekend.
“Though Otabor admitted that Phyna bought him an SUV after she won the BBNaija reality TV show, he, however, wanted more, and his daughter wasn’t ready to oblige him.
“Note that the father admitted that she bought an SUV car for him, but he also wanted her to replace the rickety cars he used for the ambulance business.
“According to the father, he sold the rickety cars after Phyna advised him to do so on the promise that she would replace them. Couldn’t this have put pressure on her and fueled the reason she stayed away from her parents?”
KanyiDaily recalls that Phyna had expressed her anger towards Vanguard for fabricating a story about her family and hinted at possible legal action against the publication.
