Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) have rescued a young girl named Kemisola Christy wandering under the bridge at Jibowu.
LASTMA public Relations Officer, Adebayo Taofiq who disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday, said the girl has been handed over to the police.
The statement partly read, “The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Mr Adebayo Taofiq confirmed that the young girl was picked while sitting lonely under the bridge at Jibowu around 7.20 am.
“During interrogation, the young girl who gave her name as Kemisola Christy revealed that she ran away from home due to maltreatment from her guardian who lives at 72, Glover Street, Ebute Metta.
“Christy revealed further that she was afraid and ran away from home after her guardian threatened to cut off her hands when she was caught her stealing N100 out of money she kept inside the purse.
“She was however handed over to policemen attached to the Alakara Police Station for further investigation.”
KanyiDaily also recalls that Police had rescued a 17-year-old malnourished girl, allegedly locked up in a goat pen by her aunt, for over one week in Rikkos, Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
