Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has reacted to the health crisis of his colleague John Okafor, known as Mr Ibu.
KanyiDaily recalls that Mr Ibu was recently seen on the hospital bed, appealing to the public for financial support and prayers while expressing concern that his legs might be amputated.
Following Mr. Ibu’s plea for assistance due to his illness, various figures, including Reno Omokri, Uche Maduagwu, and Verydarkman, expressed their opinions in the matter.
Reno Omokri had claimed that Mr Ibu was a staunch supporter of Peter Obi, and he urged the Labour Party presidential candidate to assist with the actor’s medical expenses.
Actor Uche Maduagwu, on the other hand, levelled serious allegations against his fellow actors, suggesting they used spiritual means to attack Mr. Ibu.
Popular Tiktoker, Verydarkman, also accused Nollywood movie professionals of neglecting the comic actor.
Reacting in a video shared on his Instagram page. Kanayo O. Kanayo urged these individuals to refrain from seeking attention with Mr. Ibu’s health condition.
The actor passionately conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of the acting community towards Mr. Ibu, emphasizing that his family has been actively seeking support since news of his illness emerged.
He specifically criticized Reno Omokri for involving Peter Obi’s name and Uche Maduagwu for making disparaging remarks about top actors, deeming it both unfriendly and wicked.
Kanayo also condemning the exploitation of someone’s misfortune and called out Verydarkman for seeking attention with his unruly behavior.
The actor asserted that supporting a colleague is an individual choice and commended the Actors Guild of Nigeria for their efforts. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of appreciating those who have contributed to Mr. Ibu’s cause without seeking attention on social media.
He said, “As actors, our heart goes out to our very dear colleague John Okafor, Mr Ibu. His family has been doing their best since it was reported last year he was sick and now they have come out to say we have done our best we need public support. It’s not in any sense wrong.
“Would you have felt bad or better if they kept quiet and allowed our colleague die? Onye ka ozuru? Now I condemned in strict terms Reno Omokri who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on.
“It is not a friendly thing, it is wicked and the other guy Uche Maduagwu and so who talked about top actors, shame on top actors, I say shame on you too. Shame on you because you don’t have any value and level to call our names, It is an individual thing to do to support a colleague.
“It becomes a collectable as Actors Guild of Nigeria who are doing their best within their limited time. Even those who have given can also be appreciated.”
Sharing the video, “#ONYEKAOZURU Gaining traction with someone’s misfortune, handicap, ill luck is wicked. Give, if you have to, without calling for the attention of the social media. One ‘ very dark man’ calling top actors, shameless is unruly and attention seeking. @realmribu please get well soon”
