Lagos State Police Command has revealed that it has not received the autopsy report for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
KanyiDaily recalls that in September, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, had announced the completion of the autopsy and mentioned that they were awaiting the results.
The Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, had identified prime suspects connected to Mohbad’s death, alleging that the singer had vomited and developed goosebumps after being injected three times by a nurse named Feyisayo Ogedemgbe.
Some suspects were subsequently charged to court, including singers Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who were released on bail last Friday after meeting the bail conditions.
Despite the completion of the autopsy process two months ago, Hundeyin clarified on Monday that the autopsy report had not been officially provided to the police.
The police spokesman, who spoke to Punch on November 10, emphasized the importance of receiving the report officially, stating, “We don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”
He said, “The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”
Mohbad’s friend and singer, Bella Shmurda expressed concern over the prolonged delay in releasing Mohbad’s body for a dignified funeral.
In a plea to the police, Bella urged them to expedite the process and release the body, emphasizing the need for transparency in disclosing the autopsy results.
He wrote, “It’s been over two months since Mohbad died and his body was taken in for autopsy but yet no result, which is fine but please release his body.
“That boy needs a befitting burial and to go to rest finally. Naija Police, what’s going on? We need an answer here: where is the result? Where is his body?”
Hundeyin responded by stating that only the singer’s family lawyer could request the release of the autopsy result, or it would be independently given to the police when ready.
KanyiDaily recalls that Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh had also expressed her frustration regarding the delayed release of Mohbad‘s body for burial by the police.
