Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, issues a warning to those damaging his campaign billboards, labeling the act as harmful to the development of democracy.
Addressing the issue on Lagos Street this Monday after examining a dismantled billboard, Shaibu emphasized that the destruction wouldn’t benefit anyone, stressing that it is the Edo people who have the authority to determine the next governor of the state.
Shaibu, visibly upset while surveying the vandalized billboard on Lagos Street near Ring Road, disclosed that his campaign billboards had been dismantled twice in the same location
The deputy governor expressed his frustration, revealing that he had diligently secured all the locations for his campaign billboards since June 2023 and was disturbed by their continuous destruction.
He added, “I am a man who plans in whatever I want to do. I paid and secured all of the spots across the state, signed an MoU with the owners, and paid fully.
“This kind of ugly development is capable of scaring private investors from the state. This is why we have to be very careful as a government and individual in our actions.
“We are going to replace the billboard right now and we hope it will not be tampered with again.
“We have been patient enough; they must not provoke us. Our patience must not be taken for granted. Edo is a peaceful state. We must allow peace to prevail before, dur,ing and after the election.”
Kanyi Daily recalls that Philip Shaibu is planning to relocate his office to a building outside the Government House in Benin, due to his ongoing beef with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
