Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa returned to Ondo State on Wednesday, following his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Aiyedatiwa had met with the President and various stakeholders to discuss the political deadlock in Ondo State.
The acting governor arrived at Akure Airport on a commercial flight and received a warm welcome from Ifedayo Abegunde, an APC chieftain and the Director of Corporate Affairs at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He returned to the state soon after the House of Assembly confirmed receiving a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, officially transferring power to him.
In the letter, Akeredolu also stated his intention to take a medical leave.
Recall that the absence of the governor had resulted in increased political tension in the state, with calls that power should be transmitted to Aiyedatiwa in line with constitutional provisions.
This development caused a division among members of the State Executive Council, with certain commissioners aligning themselves with Aiyedatiwa.
there were allegations suggesting that some officials had been forging the governor’s signature.
Kanyi Daily recalls that the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had urged Rotimi Akeredolu to delegate executive powers to Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
