Nigerian actress, Iyabo Ojo is demanding N1 billion from rapper Naira Marley, alleging that he failed to deliver a letter, which has now been made public.
KanyiDaily recalls that Naira Marley had filed a N500 million lawsuit against Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of spreading false and defamatory content on social media.
Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, detailed the allegations in a letter to Ojo, referencing a September 2023 post where she accused the rapper of engaging in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer Mohbad.
The lawyer argued that Ojo’s Instagram post constituted a serious case of libel, causing significant damage to Naira Marley’s reputation globally.
Seeking redress, Naira Marley’s attorney demanded a public apology and the sum of N500 million in damages from the actress.
The conditions specified that the apology should be posted on Ojo’s official Instagram account and published in a national daily. Failure to comply would result in a lawsuit against the actress.
Responding to the publicized letter via her verified Instagram page, Iyabo Ojo’s lawyer dismissed Naira Marley’s claims as social media blackmail.
She raised concerns about not being personally served the lawsuit, suggesting potential blackmail, and demanded a substantial sum of N1 billion from the rapper, whom she accused of deliberately misleading the public.
Ojo’s lawyers also deemed Naira Marley’s demands spurious and clout-chasing, threatening legal action if he fails to retract his claims.
“Our client would’ve ordinarily dismissed your letter dated 12th December 2023 for being outrightly inconsequential and of no relevance, premised on your failure to transmit the correspondence till this very day.
“Our client finds your client’s demands spurious, frivolous and clout-chasing but shall initiate an action in case your client fails to do so. Our client shall be claiming the sum of one billion naira,” the letter read in part.
Sharing the video, the actress emphasized her expectation of a prompt response from Naira Marley and his legal team.
She wrote, “MY RESPONSE TO THE LETTER FROM MR OLALEKAN OJO SAN DELIBERATELY CIRCULATED OVER SOCIAL AND PRINT MEDIA WITHOUT DESERVING COURTESY TO SERVE ME.
“I look forward to hearing from them at no distant time, please. Yours sincerely, Iyabo Ojo”.
KanyiDaily recalls that Iyabo Ojo recently disclosed her past experience of taking her children to Naira Marley’s home, alleging that he drugged their food and drinks with illegal substances.
