Suspected armed kidnappers reportedly abducted four people in the Ile-Ire district of Ifelodun Local Government Area in Kwara State
The victims, including a high chief, were reportedly abducted overnight on Tuesday in Afin community of the Ile-Ire district in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.
The attack on the community occurred shortly after a similar invasion in Oke-Ode community within the same local government on Tuesday, during which one suspected armed robber was killed.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the incident in a phone chat on Wednesday.
She identified the abducted individuals as high chief Simon Ibiwoye, the Olukotun of Afin community, along with three teenagers.
She stated that the Kabiyesi of the community reached out to inform the police about the situation.
“The abducted victims were taken to an unknown location, but on the receipt of the information, a team of the military, police and local hunters swung into action and stormed the bush where they were able to get three alleged informants linked to the suspected armed kidnappers now on the run
“A cell phone was recovered on which the pictures of the suspected armed kidnappers were seen for easy identification.
” The alleged informants have been handed over to the anti-kidnapping unit of the state police command in Ilorin for continuation of the investigation,” she added.
Adeyemi added that the search for the victims was still ongoing at the time of this report.
