The police have arrested two suspects, among them a local government chairman, in an alleged scheme to assassinate Aondona Hycenth Dajoh, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly
This information was revealed in a statement on Monday by Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, investigations revealed that the LG chairman had allegedly contacted a militia to eliminate Dajoh.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the Local Government Chairman allegedly contracted a militia with the sinister intention of eliminating the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Hycenth Dajoh,” the statement read.
He added, “The operatives of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) swiftly swung into action upon receiving credible intelligence regarding the planned assassination.
“Both suspects are currently in police custody and are actively cooperating with investigators in the ongoing inquiry.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to upholding the safety and security of citizens and public officials.”
He assured that both suspects would be subject to the full force of the law.
Kanyi Daily recalls that a 34-year-old woman, Olabisi Oyebolu, had been arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command, accused of physically assaulting her neighbor and leading to the loss of her pregnancy.
