Igboho had been outside Nigeria since 2021, seeking refuge in Benin Republic after being declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS) in the wake of an invasion of his home on alleged terrorism charges.

The DSS had wanted to apprehend Sunday Igboho over his advocacy for the Yoruba Nation and his actions against Fulani herders accused of attacking farmers in the South-West.

Igboho was arrested and detained in Benin Republic while attempting to travel to Germany.

He recently regained his freedom after spending two years in a Beninese prison.

Tragically, while Igboho was detained in Benin Republic, he lost his mother, who resided in Saki, Oyo State.

Koiki shared this information in a brief statement accompanied by a video on his social media page on Thursday.

In the video, Sunday Igboho could be seen with some people believed to be at the mortuary.

Koiki wrote: “I can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother MRS S.A.ADEYEMO.

“The body of MRS S.A ADEYEMO was picked up from the mortuary in SAKI TOWN some few hours ago.”
